Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer has revealed when exactly he will have star attacker Thembinkosi Lorch back from injury.
Lorch missed the Soweto derby following the medical team’s advice that he can’t feature against Kaizer Chiefs last weekend.
And according to Zinnbauer, the medical team’s report was that Lorch can only be available for selection after the international break – and that is beginning of April.
“The information I got after I spoke with him on Friday after training, it was not possible for him to be in the matchday squad for the Soweto derby,” Zinnbauer told the media.
“He was in pain and the risk was too high if he had played and the medical team said after the FIFA break we can plan with him,” said Zinnbauer.
Lorch isn’t the only player Zinnbauer is hoping to have back after the FIFA break as he further revealed that Terrence Dzvukamanja will also be back in contention.
“I think he will be available, and I hope he is not the only one as we need to get more players back. We will get more players back after the break, including Dzvukamanja,” he added.
Players such as Gabadinho Mhango and Tshegofatso Mabasa have just returned from injury, and without mentioning names, Zinnbauer admitted ‘some players’ cannot play 90 minutes just yet.
However, he expects a much stronger Pirates squad when the season resumes in April.
“We have some players back, but they can’t play 90 minutes as yet. Now, we have a break and we will come back stronger with more players,” concluded Zinnbauer.
